Introducing the Checkmarx Certified Engineer Program (CxCE)

If you were to take a look at the current job market for developers, application security engineers, solution architects, penetration testers, or systems engineers, it’s clear that application security testing skill sets are in high demand. You’ll also notice that Checkmarx has become synonymous with application security testing. Gartner further validated this by naming Checkmarx a leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Application Security Testing, 2018. Check out the Analyst Report.

The growing demand for application security skills continues to present challenges for hiring managers looking to validate the capabilities of potential candidates with application security testing experience. Proficiency in application security testing – particularly static application security testing – requires substantive knowledge and experience in many different security domains, and can often be product-specific. As Checkmarx continues to grow as an industry leader in the application security testing and software security spaces, we recognize the need for a Checkmarx-certified professional credential that can help hiring managers identify the qualifications of prospective candidates.

Checkmarx recently hosted its very first Checkmarx Certified Engineer (CxCE) Bootcamp. The Bootcamp culminated in 13 industry professionals passing the certification exam and becoming Charter Members of the CxCertified Engineer program. This certification demonstrates proficiency in the Checkmarx Static Application Security Testing (CxSAST) solution. CxCertified Engineers show a robust knowledge and understanding of Checkmarx’s Static Application Security Testing solution and how it integrates into the software development lifecycle (SDLC) creating a secure software development lifecycle (sSDLC). The Checkmarx Certified Engineer sets these 13 professionals and their organizations apart in the application security testing space.

In the coming weeks and months, Checkmarx will open up this certification to the broader software security community, and organizations will be able to bolster the Static Application Security Testing knowledge of their development and application security teams through training offered by Checkmarx. Hiring managers will also be able to feel confident in the application security testing abilities of potential candidates by looking for the CxCE certification in their professional profile or resume.
